PPI – 1st Webinar – “Higher Education Public Policies: A brief panorama around the world”
On July 16, 2021, IEED hosted the 1st webinar from a webinar series aiming to bring a global overview of public policies. This first webinar presented general challenges for public policy on higher education and science.
We had the pleasure of listening to 4 speakers issued from the Research and Higher Education sectors and from different countries. Speakers got together and proposed their perspectives in a brief panorama around the world.
The 4 talks titled:
Pr. Pete LEIHY: Values, People and Knowledge
Pr. William SACKS: A brief overview of the promotion of science and technology
Pr. Dong Kwang KIM: Higher Education Policy & Cultural Values
Dr. Bernard CHENEVIER: Evaluation of Public policies in Japan: focus on Higher Education system
The talks were about 15 mn long. Followed by rich and stimulating Q/A issued from the 15 invited participants. Influence of Cultural features and the questioning of International rankings in the definition, implementation and evaluation of public policies were major Q/A topics.
