The webinar series intends to review a range of public policies around the world. Its ultimate goal is to provide the editors of an EU Staff Exchange program HESPRI proposal with substantial materials to develop a novel, robust and powerful proposal.

In this webinar, the four speakers present general challenges for public policy on higher education and science. Pete LEIHY discusses the state of play and opportunities for reexamining public policy comparatively, Dong KIM focusses on tensions in the development of the modern university, William SACKS provides an overview of science funding policy on research practice, and Bernard CHENEVIER focusses on current challenges for Japanese higher education and science, particularly considering developments since the Morita report of 2005.
